“L” Points - The following seniors qualify to be recipients of the “L”-Pin at the “L” Banquet on May 19th, 2016. Eligible seniors will receive an invite to attend the “L” banquet. Seniors, check the list for accuracy. Any discrepancies let Mrs. Cardena know by no later than 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28th. Students earn points for each LHS activity in which students honorably participate. Students must earn 400 to be eligible for the “L” pin. There can be NO more than 200 points counted in one year’s participation. Points must be earned from at least two of the different areas: athletics, clubs, curricular activities, and student leadership.

Come out and support the Lacrosse team on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. against North Ridge at Hillcrest Elementary and Friday at 5:00 p.m. against Copperhills at Hillcrest Elementary.

GEAR UP is sponsoring a Family Fun Night called GEAR UP Goes to College next Thursday evening, April 21, from 6:30-8:00 pm here at LHS. We will be offering the following classes 3x during the evening (on the half-hour):

We will have day care down in the Grizz Center, as well as light snacks and a drawing for 5 Guys gift cards from tickets given out at each class. 

All LHS students and families are invited!

USU is looking for FEMALE App Camp mentors from June 20-24th, with training the week of June 13-17. You must be 9th-12th grade, be creative, love technology and enjoy helping others. The pay is $200.

SENIORS:  Some colleges are still taking applications for this coming fall!  Snow College is one of them, and they are holding an Open House here in Logan next week where you can be admitted for free, talk to a financial aid advisor, look at on-campus housing options, and register for fall classes with a Student Success Advisor.  You can also learn more about their programs and activities, and talk with faculty to give you a head start.  The Open House is this coming Tuesday, April 26, at the Riverwoods Conference Center, 615 S Riverwoods Parkway in Logan, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.  Everyone is welcome.

Seniors, it's time to apply for Senior Scholar Award Medallions.  The medallions are worn at graduation.  Awards can be earned in English, math science, social studies, world languages, theater, music, and visual arts.  If you qualify, you get the medallion.  Applications for each area can be found on the school website, under the "Students" tab.  The applications should be turned in to the department chairs.  The deadline is Wednesday, April 20th.  If you have questions, see Mrs. Smart.  

Students you can sign up for Driver Education in the Office. The class will begin May 2nd. The cost is $125.00.

Scholarship and Award Opportunities

Student Scholarship.org has made available a list of several scholarships with deadlines from April 29 to June 30.  Applications for all of these scholarships are submitted on line.  A list of all of the scholarships, eligibility requirements, scholarship amounts, and deadline dates is available in the Student Center.

Pepperidge Farms Scholarship is for students planning on majoring in math, science, engineering, business, or pursue a technical certification.  Applications are available in the Student Center.

Ray P. Garrett Memorial Scholarship is available for students majoring in education or social work.  Applications and more information are available in the Student Center.

Applications for the Rulon Olsen Scholarship are available in the Student Center.  This scholarship is intended for a first generation college student, a student with strong academic aptitude, and financial need.

If you are planning on majoring in special education or other education field, applications for the Tami W. Pyfer Scholarship are available in the Student Center.

If you are majoring in music, business education, or educational fields, the Regina Flammer Fairbourn Memorial Scholarship applications are available in the Student Center.

Annelie Johnson Memorial Scholarship is available for students considering a career in a scientific discipline or field of study.  Information and applications are available in the Student Center.

The Allison Dunn Memorial Scholarship applications are available in the Student Center.  Applicants must carry a GPA of 3.0.  This scholarship amount is $1,200 and will be mailed directly to the college or university in which the recipient is enrolled.

The 2016 Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarship is available online at application.horatialger.org. This is a $2,500 scholarship for students who are pursuing a career or technical certificate or degree.  This is intended to provide financial assistance to students who have a financial need.

Paul Mitchell School in Logan is pleased to announce the 2016 scholarship opportunity for prospective students.  If you are interested in a career in cosmetology, scholarship criteria and applications are available in the Student Center.
