Dear seniors: The mandatory order day for Cap, Gown, and announcements is Thursday, November 5th from lunch until 2:45pm. Jostens will be located in the auditorium foyer (schools main entrance) during those times. A $60 deposit will allow you to order all of your graduation items. You can pay the deposit, pay in full or sign up for a payment plan. Ordering your graduation ring will be done at this same time, you can start designing your ring now atwww.jostens.com<http://www.jostens.com/>. Jostens will help size fingers on the order days. “Ladies, Sadie Hawkins dance is on Saturday! Get asking now. This year’s theme is “Movies” so you and your date can dress up as your favorite movie stars. See you all on Saturday, Nov. 07th from 8:00pm-11:00pm in the school cafeteria.

Seniors- Next week we will be participating in the annual Utah College Application Week. Counselors and admissions personnel will be available in the media center Monday-Friday, November 9th-13th during lunch to assist with college applications. We’ve also coordinated with many Utah colleges who have committed to waiving application fees if you apply during our workshop. Please plan to attend.

All FCCLA members we will be working on our service project Tuesday and Wednesday after school this week in the Sewing Lab.

GEAR UP has combined the BYU and UVU college tours. We will be visiting on Wednesday, Nov. 18. Parents invited! Please sign up now in the Grizz Center. If you are already on the list, pick up the new information sheet also at the Grizz Center.

GEAR UP is inviting sophomores and freshmen to sign up for USU Diversity Day BEFORE Nov. 6th. The all-day event is being held Friday, Nov. 20th with REAL Salt Lake soccer player, Abdoulie Mansally as the keynote speaker. There will be lunch, tee shirts, workshops and a USU tour. If you haven’t had a college visit to USU, are planning to be a first generation-college student, or just want to participate, please sign up at the GRIZZ Center immediately. Spaces are very limited due to the popularity of this event in the past!

The game will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. We are selling football tickets in the main office for staff and students for the first round playoff football game on Friday, November 6th. Students tickets will be $5.00 and Adults with be $8.00.

SENIORS:  Representatives from Utah colleges and universities will be at Logan High to answer your questions regarding application deadlines, financial aid, and scholarships.  All seniors and parents are welcome to attend on Tuesday, November 3, at 8:25 am in the Auditorium.  You will allowed to pick three of the colleges in the state to visit during the breakout sessions.

If you are interested in drafting/construction, or auto/diesel mechanics or heavy equipment operation then BATC could be the right local college for you. We will be visiting Nov. 4th. Stop by the Grizz Center for information and to sign up. Parents invited. Limited to 40 students.

If you are interested in Business, Elementary Ed, Aviation Operations (from pilot to flight crew), Entrepreneurship (starting your own creative business), Arts (music/dance/theatre/visual) or Technology, UVU in Orem, Utah may be the right fit for you. We will be visiting Nov. 16th. We must have 20 students signed up at the Grizz Center for this trip. Parents invited. Again, stop by the Grizz Center to sign up and get an information sheet.

Students can now sign up for the November 9th session of Driver’s Ed, please sign up and pay in the Main Office. Cost is $125; class will be after school from 3-5 pm. This class will be taught by Mr. Lindley in Room 217.

Students MUST have their yearbooks ordered and paid for prior to December 17th. The cost is $45.00. If you wait till after winder break the cost will be $55.00 until January 15th. After January 15th you will not be able to purchase a yearbook. Check the list by the office to see if you have purchased a yearbook. We will not be taking orders after this date.

Spend a day exploring the College of Science and the College of mines and Earth Sciences at Science Day at the U on Saturday, November 7, 2015, from 8:00 am to 1:20 pm.  Engage in exciting workshops and discuss scientific advancements with researcher at the U!  Registration is required at science.utah.edu.  During the lunch $3,000 and $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.

Applications are being taken for the Miss Cache Valley and Cache Valley’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, to be held on November 14 at the Ellen Eccles Theater. If you are 13-18 years old and interested in Service and Scholarships contact misscachevalley@hotmail.com for an application or information.

 

Scholarship and Award Opportunities

Most Utah colleges and universities have a December 1 deadline for their major scholarships. To ensure that you do not miss out on a scholarship, visit the website of the college or university you plan to attend and get the necessary information needed to apply for a scholarship It is to your advantage to start the scholarship process now..

 

The Daniels Scholarship Program provides a four-year annually renewable college scholarship for graduating high school seniors who demonstrate exceptional character, leadership, and commitment to serving their communities. For full information on the selection criteria visit their website at DanielsFund.org.   The application process is on the same website. More information is available in the Student Center.

The Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship information is available in the Student Center. A student must average a 2.8 GPA, demonstrate leadership abilities, and plan on attending an accredited nonprofit college or university.   Recipients of the award will receive a one-time grant of $1,000.

The Stephen J Brady Stop Hunger Scholarships recognize and reward students who have made a significant impact in the fight against hunger. The scholarship recipients each receive $5,000.

The Young Entrepreneur Scholarship applications are available online. This year the NFIE Foundation will be awarding scholarships valued between $2,000 to $15,000, If you are a budding entrepreneur or have started your own business, you will qualify for this scholarship.   Scholarship information is available in the Student Center.
