Staff and Students we are selling football tickets in the main office for the first round playoff football game on Friday, November 6th. Students tickets will be $5.00 and Adults with be $8.00.

SENIORS:  Representatives from Utah colleges and universities will be at Logan High to answer your questions regarding application deadlines, financial aid, and scholarships.  All seniors and parents are welcome to attend on Tuesday, November 3, at 8:25 am in the Auditorium.  You will allowed to pick three of the colleges in the state to visit during the breakout sessions.

FREE A.C.T. PREP Class starting on Wednesday, October 28th at 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. This will be at the Huntsman Business Building at USU in room 320. This is a weekly class.

If you are interested in drafting/construction, or auto/diesel mechanics or heavy equipment operation then BATC could be the right local college for you. We will be visiting Nov. 4th. Stop by the Grizz Center for information and to sign up. Parents invited. Limited to 40 students.

We will be heading to BYU on Nov. 12th. Please stop by the Grizz Center for the information sheet and to sign up if you haven’t already. Limited to 60 people. Parents invited.

If you are interested in Business, Elementary Ed, Aviation Operations (from pilot to flight crew), Entrepreneurship (starting your own creative business), Arts (music/dance/theatre/visual) or Technology, UVU in Orem, Utah may be the right fit for you. We will be visiting Nov. 16th. We must have 20 students signed up at the Grizz Center for this trip. Parents invited. Again, stop by the Grizz Center to sign up and get an information sheet.

We will be offering a student body bus to go down to State Volleyball on Wednesday, October 28th. The bus will leave at 1:15 p.m. We only have one bus and can accommodate 52 people. Please come to the office for more information. The cost to ride the bus will be $1.00. The cost of the game is $5.00.

Students can now sign up for the November 9th session of Driver’s Ed, please sign up and pay in the Main Office. Cost is $125; class will be after school from 3-5 pm. This class will be taught by Mr. Lindley in Room 217.

All FCCLA members we will be meeting after school Wed. Oct. 28th in the FACS building to decorate cookies for Halloween.

The Rube Goldberg Team for GEAR UP will have its first meeting after school on Tuesday, October 27th. If you have any questions or would like to contribute, please come visit us in the Grizz Center.

“Attention:  boys interested in playing BASKETBALL this season.  there will be a tryout meeting in coach Browns room on Wednesday October 28th before school at 8:20 a.m.     All boys grades 9-12 that are interested in trying out need to be there. If you have any questions contact Coach Brown.”

ATTENTION Logan High Students……… Fee Waivers for the 2015-16 school year are due by October 30, 2015. No late applications will be accepted.   Again, fee waiver applications for this year are due by October 30th.   Also, due to the increasing costs of yearbooks, students MUST have their yearbooks ordered and paid for prior to December 17th. The cost is $45.00. We will not be taking orders after that date.   Again, yearbooks must be ordered and paid for prior to December 18th.

Spend a day exploring the College of Science and the College of mines and Earth Sciences at Science Day at the U on Saturday, November 7, 2015, from 8:00 am to 1:20 pm.  Engage in exciting workshops and discuss scientific advancements with researcher at the U!  Registration is required at science.utah.edu.  During the lunch $3,000 and $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.

Applications are being taken for the Miss Cache Valley and Cache Valley’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, to be held on November 14 at the Ellen Eccles Theater. If you are 13-18 years old and interested in Service and Scholarships contact misscachevalley@hotmail.com for an application or information.

SENIORS:  Madalena McNeil of the University of Utah will be visiting LHS on Thursday, October 29th.  If you are planning on attending the “U”, this will be a great opportunity to get your questions answered concerning registration, scholarships, and financing.  She will be located in the Student Center.

The US Department of State announces scholarships for American high school students to study abroad. These are merit-based scholarships to study Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Persian, Russian, and Turkish. This program is designed to immerse participants in the cultural life of the host country and provide formal and informal language practice. The application deadline is October 29th. Application information is available in the Student Center.

Scholarship and Award Opportunities

Most Utah colleges and universities have a December 1 deadline for their major scholarships. To ensure that you do not miss out on a scholarship, visit the website of the college or university you plan to attend and get the necessary information needed to apply for a scholarship It is to your advantage to start the scholarship process now..

 

The Daniels Scholarship Program provides a four-year annually renewable college scholarship for graduating high school seniors who demonstrate exceptional character, leadership, and commitment to serving their communities. For full information on the selection criteria visit their website at DanielsFund.org.   The application process is on the same website. More information is available in the Student Center.

The Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship information is available in the Student Center. A student must average a 2.8 GPA, demonstrate leadership abilities, and plan on attending an accredited nonprofit college or university.   Recipients of the award will receive a one-time grant of $1,000.

The Stephen J Brady Stop Hunger Scholarships recognize and reward students who have made a significant impact in the fight against hunger. The scholarship recipients each receive $5,000.

The Young Entrepreneur Scholarship applications are available online. This year the NFIE Foundation will be awarding scholarships valued between $2,000 to $15,000, If you are a budding entrepreneur or have started your own business, you will qualify for this scholarship. Scholarship information is available in the Student Center.
