We will be offering a student body bus to go down to Cross-Country on Wednesday and one for Soccer on Friday. Please come to the office for more information. The cost to ride the bus will be $1.00.

To celebrate Teen Read Week, on Saturday, Oct 24th, the Logan Public Library is holding their first ever Humans vs. Zombies event. The action starts at 6:00 with zombie makeup tips and then transitions to a friendly battle between humans and zombies throughout the library. Food and snacks will be provided as well as Nerf guns and other nonviolent defensive items (but bring your own Nerf guns if you have them). To prepare for the event, LHS library will have zombie activities during lunch every day this week. Come join us for the undead fun!

Freshmen Peer Tutor Intervention Plan

  1. Freshmen wishing to be peer tutored during Intervention can now schedule an appointment for the first half of Intervention through either the “LHS Peer Tutor System” link underneath “Students” on the main LHS webpage or www.lhspeertutor.setmore.com.

Congratulations to our Volleyball team who secured 2nd place in region with a great win at Juan Diego. The team will have senior night Thursday, October22nd and then on to the state tournament October 28-29 at UVU. Let’s get a lot of support for these ladies on these nights, they deserve it.

Attention freshmen and sophomores: Last call for the GEAR UP college visit trip to the University of Utah and Westminster on Friday, Oct. 23. If you would like to join us, come sign up at the Grizz Center by Wednesday. If you have already signed up, please drop by the Grizz center and pick up your information & invitation ASAP. We have limited seating, so first come, first served!

Open gym enrichment starting next Monday the 19th there will be open gym enrichment. However, in order to maintain a safe and active gym enrichment, passes will be issued every day of the week except Wednesday. These passes will be color coded and can be picked up in the office from Mrs. Kimball. Students must have a pass to enter gym enrichment. Mondays and Thursdays will be basketball with 20 passes available. Tuesdays and Fridays will be soccer with 24 passes available. Students may be required at any time during open gym to show their passes for verification.

“Parking in the North parking lot is for Teachers only. The other parking lots are designated for students. New stickers for the north parking lot were given to staff and should be placed in the back window. Vehicles with an old sticker or no sticker may receive a parking ticket.”

Applications are being taken for the Miss Cache Valley and Cache Valley’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, to be held on November 14 at the Ellen Eccles Theater. If you are 13-18 years old and interested in Service and Scholarships contact misscachevalley@hotmail.com for an application or information.

The US Department of State announces scholarships for American high school students to study abroad. These are merit-based scholarships to study Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Persian, Russian, and Turkish. This program is designed to immerse participants in the cultural life of the host country and provide formal and informal language practice. The application deadline is October 29th. Application information is available in the Student Center.

Scholarship and Award Opportunities

Most Utah colleges and universities have a December 1 deadline for their major scholarships. To ensure that you do not miss out on a scholarship, visit the website of the college or university you plan to attend and get the necessary information needed to apply for a scholarship It is to your advantage to start the scholarship process now..

The 2016 Horatio Alger Scholarship applications are available online at scholars.horatioalger.org. This form must be filled out online. They are looking for students with a financial need, and a 2.0 GPA. You must be planning to enter a college in the United States after graduation.

The Daniels Scholarship Program provides a four-year annually renewable college scholarship for graduating high school seniors who demonstrate exceptional character, leadership, and commitment to serving their communities. For full information on the selection criteria visit their website at DanielsFund.org.   The application process is on the same website. More information is available in the Student Center.

The Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship information is available in the Student Center. A student must average a 2.8 GPA, demonstrate leadership abilities, and plan on attending an accredited nonprofit college or university.   Recipients of the award will receive a one-time grant of $1,000.

The Stephen J Brady Stop Hunger Scholarships recognize and reward students who have made a significant impact in the fight against hunger. The scholarship recipients each receive $5,000.

The Young Entrepreneur Scholarship applications are available online. This year the NFIE Foundation will be awarding scholarships valued between $2,000 to $15,000, If you are a budding entrepreneur or have started your own business, you will qualify for this scholarship.   Scholarship information is available in the Student Center.
