Sophomore and Junior students…

The PSAT test will be administered on Wednesday, October 14th. A sign-up sheet is available in the Student Center (room # 203), the cost is $15 and must be paid with cash or check when you sign up. For sophomores, this test is a great way to prepare for upcoming college entrance exams and juniors taking the test automatically compete for the prestigious National Merit Scholarship. Spots are limited so hurry in and get signed up.

Applications are being taken for the Miss Cache Valley and Cache Valley’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, to be held on November 14 at the Ellen Eccles Theater. If you are 13-18 years old and interested in Service and Scholarships contact misscachevalley@hotmail.com for an application or information.

Attention all sophomores and freshmen. Are you interested in engineering, physics, or just wacky creations? Then check out the Rube Goldberg team, part of the Gear UP program. Bring your creative, inventive minds to help us turn ordinary, everyday items into a mechanical masterpiece. This fun filled project will be demonstrated and judged in a contest at Weber State University in December. Meetings will be held after school in the Grizz Center. The Logan High Grizzly newspaper is sponsoring a Halloween short story writing contest. Entries are due Wednesday, Oct. 14. Submit your story online at thegrizzlyonline@gmail.com or give it to Trenton Chang or Mr. Wade in the English building room W120. Winning stories will be published in the newspaper. Prize money will be awarded to the top three places. First place receives $15. Please keep stories school appropriate / PG rated. Thanks!

 

The US Department of State announces scholarships for American high school students to study abroad. These are merit-based scholarships to study Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Persian, Russian, and Turkish. This program is designed to immerse participants in the cultural life of the host country and provide formal and informal language practice. The application deadline is October 29th. Application information is available in the Student Center.

Scholarship and Award Opportunities

Most Utah colleges and universities have a December 1 deadline for their major scholarships. To ensure that you do not miss out on a scholarship, visit the website of the college or university you plan to attend and get the necessary information needed to apply for a scholarship It is to your advantage to start the scholarship process now..

The 2016 Horatio Alger Scholarship applications are available online at scholars.horatioalger.org. This form must be filled out online. They are looking for students with a financial need, and a 2.0 GPA. You must be planning to enter a college in the United States after graduation.

The Daniels Scholarship Program provides a four-year annually renewable college scholarship for graduating high school seniors who demonstrate exceptional character, leadership, and commitment to serving their communities. For full information on the selection criteria visit their website at DanielsFund.org.   The application process is on the same website. More information is available in the Student Center.

The Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship information is available in the Student Center. A student must average a 2.8 GPA, demonstrate leadership abilities, and plan on attending an accredited nonprofit college or university.   Recipients of the award will receive a one-time grant of $1,000.

The Stephen J Brady Stop Hunger Scholarships recognize and reward students who have made a significant impact in the fight against hunger. The scholarship recipients each receive $5,000. Scholarship criteria and application information is in the Student Center.

The Young Entrepreneur Scholarship applications are available online. This year the NFIE Foundation will be awarding scholarships valued between $2,000 to $15,000, If you are a budding entrepreneur or have started your own business, you will qualify for this scholarship. Scholarship information is available in the Student Center.
