We are starting to plan our GEAR UP college visits for the year. If you are a freshmen or sophomore, please come down to the Grizz Center (room 210) and sign up for the college campus you would like to tour. Our first three all-day tours are:

Oct. 23: University of Utah and Westminster

Nov. 12: BYU

Nov. 18: UVU

You can only sign up for one college visit this year so check our lists and sign up now. First come, first served! Parents are also invited to come with us and we will pay for everything!

There will be an FBLA meeting on Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. in Mrs. Zilles’s room. We will be discussing competitive events, and we will be registering for the USU Aggie Invitational. If you weren’t able to come to our last meeting, it’s not too late. Come and see what FBLA is all about.

Swimming season begins October 5th. For all those wanting to participate, you must have a physical by that date and turned in to an athletic trainer. You must also go onto registermyathlete.com and complete this process.

Students you can sign up for Driver Education in the Office. The class will begin October 19th. The cost is $125.00.

GEAR UP is sponsoring the new Grizz Center (room 210 next to the library) for all freshmen and sophomores. We are now open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every day with tutoring, mentoring, virtual college tours, scholarship and FAFSA information, credit recovery help, ACT prep and much more. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors the Academic Support classes have been assigned for any failing grades. Remember to check if you have been assigned to Academic Support by login tointervention.loganschools.org. To login use your S number. Assignments have also been posted throughout the school. If you have any further questions please come to Academic Support Room 314.

The US Department of State announces scholarships for American high school students to study abroad. These are merit-based scholarships to study Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Persian, Russian, and Turkish. This program is designed to immerse participants in the cultural life of the host country and provide formal and informal language practice. The application deadline is October 29th. Application information is available in the Student Center.

Scholarship and Award Opportunities

Most Utah colleges and universities have a December 1 deadline for their major scholarships. To ensure that you do not miss out on a scholarship, visit the website of the college or university you plan to attend and get the necessary information needed to apply for a scholarship It is to your advantage to start the scholarship process now..

The 2016 Horatio Alger Scholarship applications are available online at scholars.horatioalger.org. This form must be filled out online. They are looking for students with a financial need, and a 2.0 GPA. You must be planning to enter a college in the United States after graduation.

The Daniels Scholarship Program provides a four-year annually renewable college scholarship for graduating high school seniors who demonstrate exceptional character, leadership, and commitment to serving their communities. For full information on the selection criteria visit their website at DanielsFund.org.   The application process is on the same website.   More information is available in the Student Center.
